SCHOOLMINT

Founders: Jinal Jhaveri & Forum Desai
Headquarters: San Francisco, CA
Year Founded: 2013
Year Romulus Invested: 2014

Schoolmint was founded out of parent frustration, which Forum Desai and Jinal Jhaveri experienced as they enrolled their daughter in preschool. As engineers, they understood that there could be a better, more seamless way for families and schools to navigate the school application process. They built Schoolmint, a platform that digitizes and simplifies school admissions. In 2017, Schoolmint was acquired by Hero K12, an edtech platform.

The SchoolMint-Romulus story:

Education is a large, traditional vertical that has been slow to adopt technology. Through our relationship with GEMS Education, we recognized that edtech companies that offer value to students or teachers have a difficult time monetizing their product. As such, SchoolMint’s value proposition, providing tools to schools themselves, made much more sense. We were introduced by a mutual friend and partnered with the company to help build a market-leader in educational technology.

Romulus value in action: Executing. SchoolMint’s team ran a contract development company before it uncovered its solution for schools; as such, efficient execution is in the company’s DNA. SchoolMint has managed to develop industry-changing solutions — while also hacking the school sales cycles.
